About The Position

University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Radiology and Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) are offering an exciting opportunity for a Fellowship trained Pediatric Radiologist to lead our 40 faculty Pediatric Radiology team as Chief of Pediatric Radiology and John D Strain Endowed Chair in Radiology. The faculty team is currently made up of 35 MDs/DOs and 5 APPs including 9 Pediatric Neuroradiologists, 7 MSK Radiologists, 5 NM faculty, 4 Interventional Radiologists, 3 IR APPs, and 2 Fluoro APPs. Faculty cover the imaging and imaging-guided procedures for the 600+ bed CHCO hospital system (inclusive of Anschutz Campus, North/South Hospitals and Colorado Springs Hospital). The CHCO Anschutz Campus is located along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in the Denver/Aurora area. Responsibilities for this leadership position include creating departmental strategic alignment with CHCO and Department of Radiology missions, leading the Radiology practice across the CHCO system, interaction/communication with the CHCO executive leadership team, and managing the faculty, including hiring, supervision, mentorship and performance evaluation. Ongoing maintenance of and future planning for imaging resources including growth of outpatient imaging, optimizing inpatient imaging workflows, growth in Interventional Radiology, and incorporation of the new sites of practice will require successful interaction with the CHCO staff and administration. This role will also oversee leadership of the Pediatric Radiology Executive Council, comprised of the Vice Chiefs (Clinical Affairs, Education, Operations, Research), the Directors of Neuroradiology, Quality/Safety, Interventional Radiology, Informatics, the Medical Director of the Colorado Springs Campus, and a rotating member of the faculty. The Chief of Pediatric Radiology has collaborative oversight of the Advanced Imaging Lab, which is housed at CHCO Anschutz Campus with 2 PhD Researchers and multiple post-docs and students. Oversight of the Advanced Imaging Lab and Radiology research is in collaboration with the Colorado Child Health Research Institute and the Department of Radiology Vice Chair of Research. The Chief of Pediatric Radiology will hold a faculty appointment with the CU School of Medicine and work primarily from the Anschutz Campus; this role also requires participation as a clinical radiologist in the team, with exact qualifications dependent on the applicant’s subspecialty experience/expertise. CHCO is affiliated with University of Colorado School of Medicine with ample multidisciplinary conferences and teaching opportunities.

Requirements

  • Licensed MD or DO from accredited institution in the U.S., or equivalent, if a non-U.S. graduate
  • Colorado Medical License by time of hire
  • ABR Certification or eligible
  • Completion of Pediatric Radiology fellowship
  • Interpretation of radiology imaging studies and procedures
  • Competency in basic radiology procedures
