About The Position

Are you ready to lead the operations that keep our community running? Albemarle County seeks a Chief of Facilities & Operations to oversee public facilities, grounds, and essential services. This role ensures safe, efficient, and sustainable use of County properties while managing critical programs like solid waste and environmental compliance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in facilities management; 5+ years in leadership.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
  • Strong knowledge of construction, maintenance, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct operations for facilities and grounds maintenance.
  • Manage budgets for operational and capital projects.
  • Promote energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage property use agreements and leases for County-owned facilities.
  • Administer solid waste, recycling, and other community service programs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Lead a team with a focus on development and performance excellence.
