Requirements
- Proficiency in patient assessments, family engagement, treatment planning, and collaboration with external review organizations or similar entities.
- Ability to work flexible hours and occasional overtime as needed.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk (up to two-thirds of shift), lift/carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, and push/pull wheeled carts up to 100 pounds frequently.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment, primarily indoors (60-90°F), with occasional outdoor exposure (30-110°F), and handle hazardous/infectious waste.
- Proficiency with medical equipment (e.g., EKG, glucometer, Pyxis system) and standard office tools (e.g., computers, fax machines).
- Strong commitment to compliance, teamwork, and customer service, with a professional demeanor and positive attitude in addressing conflicts or stressful situations.
- Master's degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing (or equivalent) from a National League of Nursing-accredited school, or equivalent qualifications in caring for the mentally ill per state guidelines.
- Current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification and Handle with Care (HWC) training required within 30 days of hire, prior to patient contact.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for nursing services, ensuring high-quality care delivery aligns with facility goals and complies with state and federal regulations.
- Lead recruitment, staffing, and training of nursing staff, overseeing supervision, evaluation, and professional development to maintain a skilled and motivated team.
- Revise and enforce nursing policies, procedures, and performance standards, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Act as a liaison between physicians, patients, referral sources, and employees, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
- Analyze statistical data to identify trends in inpatient programs, implementing responsive strategies to enhance care quality.
- Oversee patient satisfaction data collection and reporting, presenting monthly findings to the Performance Improvement (PI) committee.
- Ensure adequate resources and staffing for inpatient programs, meeting hospital budget and operational benchmarks.
- Enhance hospital visibility through active involvement in community initiatives addressing mental health and substance abuse needs.
- Implement comprehensive orientation programs for patients, families, and professionals, ensuring accessibility and clarity.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment, adhering to HIPAA, hospital policies, and professional standards while treating all patients and colleagues with dignity.
- Serve as a role model for superior customer service, holding nursing staff to the highest standards of compassion and professionalism.
- Attend monthly PI and safety meetings, preparing detailed reports to support continuous improvement.
- Assist with new employee orientation and routinely review staff assignments to optimize utilization and efficiency.
