The Chief Nursing Officer I (CNO) is responsible for facilitating leadership, strategic planning, decision-making, and effective execution of nursing functions. The CNO I provides leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving outcomes consistent with organizational mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives. Assumes strategic leadership responsibility for the assessment, planning, identification of outcomes, implementation, and evaluation of clinically effective and efficient systems of care and service within the continuum of care. Participates in long range planning, goal setting, program development related to nursing functions.The Chief Nursing Officer role is guided by the American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL) competencies, American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, ANA Standards of Nurse Administration and the ANA Social Policy Statement.
