About The Position

Responsible for all technical aspects of Radiation Oncology (RO) network treatment equipment, treatment planning services, treatment delivery, and ancillary equipment. Responsible for RO network regulatory compliance, accreditation, radiation safety and program quality. Supervises systemwide physics and dosimetry staff and ensures appropriate resource allocation.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD degree in medical physics or related discipline (Ph.D. degree required for academic leadership role).
  • Certified in therapeutic medical physics from American Board of Radiology (ABR) or equivalent certification from Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP).
  • Ten years of work experience as a Medical Physicist in a full-service radiation therapy center.
  • 5 years of experience must be after receiving board certification in therapeutic medical physics, delivering technology implementation and program development projects to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and patient care.
  • Including 3 years of leadership experience OR leading teams in a technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all technical aspects of Radiation Oncology department, including supervision of physics, dosimetrists, and treatment planning services.
  • Assures adequate physics and treatment planning services at sites under purview, assigns workplace and evaluates work of all physics personnel.
  • Establishes and implements the specifications for acceptance testing, calibration and performance of all radiation simulation, radiation delivery, radiation measurement, treatment planning, QA software and associated equipment, and radiation doses to comply with all applicable regulatory, professional and accreditation bodies.
  • Establishes and ensures compliance with system Quality Management and Radiation Safety Program to accomplish these goals.
  • Participates in both system wide and local quality assurance and other departmental leadership meetings and projects.
  • Serves as the point of contact for local leadership regarding quality, performance, and reporting for both technical and staffing aspects of physics and dosimetry within their departments.
  • Ensures compliance with all accreditation and regulatory agencies.
