Riverside Medical Group is seeking a strategic and compassionate Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead clinical psychiatric operations at Riverside Mental Health & Recovery Center (RMHRC) in Hampton, Virginia. This hybrid role combines 50% direct psychiatric care with 50% executive leadership, offering a unique opportunity to shape mental health services while maintaining hands-on patient engagement.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) in Psychiatry – Required.
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine – Required.
  • Licensed or eligible to practice in Virginia – Required within 60 days.
  • Valid DEA registration – Required at hire.
  • CPI Advanced Skills – Required within 14 days of hire.
  • 7–10 years of clinical experience with increasing administrative responsibility – Preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, MHA, MMM, or MPH – Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in a Psychiatric Emergency Department, Mental Health Outpatient Clinic or Inpatient facility for those with a primary mental health or substance use need.
  • Conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, and manage psychotropic medications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.
  • Maintain compliance with DBHDS and DNV standards.
  • Oversee medical staff administration and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Lead strategic planning and implementation of clinical programs.
  • Enhance Epic EHR workflows and data analytics.
  • Mentor providers and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and drive performance metrics.
