GENERAL SUMMARY The Chief Medical Officer Affilate provides leadership and direction to all physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) within their Affiliate to ensure the delivery of consistent quality medical care. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES The responsibilities and duties described in this job description are intended to provide a general overview of the position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Works closely with medical staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Oversees the implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and standards. Evaluates developments and innovations in medical care and makes recommendations for new practices and procedures. Advises Affiliate Leadership and medical teams on matters impacting patient care. Acts as an advocate on behalf of our patients, physicians and clinical staff. Responsible for monitoring, measurement and quality improvement of clinical care utilizing evidence-based best practices to support, promote and oversee patient safety, continuous performance and quality improvement, risk management and efficient resource utilization. Oversees the development and continuous improvement of services, policies, processes, and programs, including medical practice review, governance, credentialing, privileging, peer review, medical information systems, and telemedicine opportunities. Oversee operations, budget, financial targets, and human resources management. Assists in evaluating new clinical business line opportunities that align with the strategic vision, by actively engaging in strategic planning for service line business plan development. Monitors market trends, market share data and physician practices to look for opportunities for business growth. Implements new clinical initiatives and business plans as directed as the executive lead Leads the development of continuing medical education (CME), and other relevant education programs for medical staff. Monitors major issues and trends in the practice of medicine and area of health policy advising medical staff and executive leadership in relation to organization activities. Builds and cultivates strong physician relations within all of operating entities. Ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of medical care. Ensuring that all healthcare regulations and safety standards are met. Liaison between the administration and medical staff. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
