Supervises and coordinates all phases of maintenance and repair for all heavy and medium duty equipment, including motor graders, wheel loaders, excavators, and Class 1-8 trucks; specialty equipment, including street sweepers, slurry seal trucks, vacuum sewer basin cleaners, and paint striping machines, and all other motorized equipment for the department, with particular emphasis on trouble-shooting difficult and unusual mechanical problems. Direct supervisory responsibilities over 7-person shop. Assists in budget preparation. Skills in Microsoft Office required and knowledge of asset/fleet management software preferred. Integral to the position of Chief Master Mechanic is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining.
