Reporting to, and in partnership with the President & CEO, the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer (CMCO) develops and maintains relationships with the Board of Directors, vendors, sponsors, advertisers, promotional partners and community contacts to maximize marketing dollars. The CMCO leads management of all facets of the Space Center Houston brand. The ideal candidate is a strategic, forward-thinking executive leader with a track record as a proven communications and marketing professional who has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of practice by striving for excellence, fostering creativity, building organizational brand and a strong team. The candidate has a high level of experience in leveraging earned media (through television, news reporting, etc.), owned media (website, social media, etc.) and information-based reporting and marketing (paid promotion). The candidate demonstrates experience in researching, recommending and implementing communication initiatives using digital media and advancements in technology. Given that Space Center Houston is on the cusp of a capital campaign to support its largest expansion since inception, experience in communication and marketing strategy development and implementation in support of development and capital campaigns is preferred. Space Center Houston seeks a senior executive with proven senior management and leadership experience. The candidate has high emotional intelligence and ability to forge and maintain relationships with a wide variety of personalities necessary to collaborate with teams from multiple functions across the organization for the purpose of achieving common goals and objectives. The candidate is dedicated to advancing the mission of science education, learning, and community engagement. A deep understanding of the space industry would be highly valued.
