About The Position

The Staenberg–Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC Denver) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve, strengthen, and inspire the community guided by timeless Jewish values. For over 100 years, the JCC Denver has served the Greater Denver metro area through educational, social, and cultural programs that are rooted in Jewish values. The JCC creates a vibrant and inclusive social hub with programming areas focused on fostering connection, community, and well-being that includes: a robust aquatics, fitness, and tennis center, an early learning school, family and early childhood programs, arts and culture, day and overnight camps, and engagement programming for teens, young adults, seniors, and diverse communities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Social Work, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Director capacity of a school, early education, or year-round camp operations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including supervision
  • Leadership and supervisory experience managing a budget, recruitment, and camp development
  • Knowledge of license rules and regulations for the day school, day camp, and overnight camp
  • Strong understanding of compliance with Licensed Childcare and American Camp Association regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of activity-related safety regulations, as well as health and sanitation requirements
  • Exceptional written & verbal communication skills, sophisticated interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inform, motivate, and inspire colleagues and supporters
  • Proven and direct supervisory and management experience of 2+ individuals, with the ability to provide timely feedback in an appropriate manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor management tools, Salesforce experience strongly preferred
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Successful track-record working with nonprofit organization with annual budget of at least $10 million
  • Successful leadership experience in building programs, leading teams, managing/motivating staff and creating a strong and successful department
  • Experience managing philanthropic related communication and marketing efforts
  • Proven track record of working in concert with other organization-related business channels, providing staff/team leadership and management, and driving key initiatives and projects forward to achieve measurable results
  • Passion for the mission of the JCC, and the ability to compellingly articulate its unique value proposition
  • Must be able to pass a background check and compliance in accordance with regulations

  • State of Colorado Director qualified
  • Experience operating school and/or camp programming during COVID-19 pandemic
  • Previous experience working in the Jewish Community, strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the CEO and other executive leaders, confirms and annually revisits the organization’s mission, vision and business objectives, as it applies to all Licensed Programs
  • Ensures that all Licensed Program operating objectives are met and that the organization remains financially viable in conjunction with the CEO, Board of Directors and other executive leaders
  • Manages department specific marketing campaigns for Licensed programs by overseeing marketing efforts to increase awareness of the organization and its work, attract donors, and build a strong brand
  • Manages department specific philanthropy campaigns for Licensed programs by overseeing philanthropy initiatives to increase donations and program sustainability
  • Attend board meetings, finance committee meetings, strategic planning meetings and other executive-level meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Manages grant applications and seeks new opportunities from grantors, corporate sponsorships, and individual solicitations for Early Learning School (ELS), Camp Shai, and Ranch Camp
  • Overall budget oversight of ELS, Camp Shai, and Ranch Camp
  • Develops and implements fundraising strategies, including creating plans for major gifts, annual giving, corporate sponsorships, and grant writing, including but not limited to the JCC’s T4K program, Ranch Camp Master Plan, and the JCC’s Capital Campaign
  • Oversee donor relations by cultivating relationships with current and potential donors, ensuring they are satisfied, and building long-term partnerships in conjunction with the JCC’s Philanthropy department
  • Oversee operations, strategic planning, and oversight of leadership for the JCC’s Ranch Camp, Camp Shai, and Early Learning School departments.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Supervises any of the program areas listed above or others that may be developed in the future and ensures that each program meets its revenue goals
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant governmental codes and requirements.
  • Promotes the JCC culture by fostering a workplace that values input from all levels of the organization and promotes different points of view
  • Attends board and board committee meetings and presents updates as needed
  • Assists the CEO in recruiting and retaining staff
  • Other duties as assigned
