About The Position

Kleinfelder's Construction Services team is looking for a Chief Inspector to join their team in Augusta, ME, Portland, ME, or Manchester, NH. The Chief Inspector will be responsible for providing construction inspection services to a broad range of state, local, and national clients, particularly in transportation projects in ME and NH. The role involves performing routine to complex inspections in the field, overseeing construction methods, and ensuring compliance with construction plans and specifications. The position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for qualified candidates and eligibility for employee referral bonuses.

Requirements

  • Personal vehicle and valid driver's license.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Building Inspection, Home Inspection, Construction Technology, Drafting, or Mathematics; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: ACI concrete certified, NETTCP paving certified, PCI certified, NACE level certification.
  • Experience with daily reporting using electronic software such as Appia or Field Manager.
  • Five plus years of proven managerial experience in construction.
  • Technical competence in construction operations and adherence to policies.
  • Extensive knowledge of gas transmission and distribution systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours and move work locations as needed.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, and Maine Turnpike.
  • Familiarity with construction standards and safe operation rules.

Responsibilities

  • Implement construction policies and procedures effectively.
  • Direct all aspects of the construction process to meet company goals.
  • Monitor safety, compliance, productivity, and workload to maximize efficiencies.
  • Facilitate and support the construction process.
  • Manage resource utilization to ensure safety and productivity.
  • Ensure all work complies with company standards and regulations.
  • Document work accurately, including SOPs and daily reports.
  • Coordinate work packages and field meetings necessary for project progress.
  • Coordinate welding operations between contractors.
