The Chief Inspector reports to the Service Center Manager and is responsible for the overall operation of the inspection department. The Chief Inspector is responsible for directing, planning, and laying out the details of inspection standards, methods and procedures used by the Repair Station when complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer's specifications, and recommendations. The Chief Inspector may delegate duties assigned to any qualified assistant as necessary; however, such delegation does not relieve the Chief Inspector of the overall responsibilities. The Chief Inspector must meet the following qualifications prior to executing their duties and responsibilities. Position Accountabilities Assist, supervise and direct all personnel assigned to the inspection department. Ascertain that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work and that the proper inspection records, reports and forms used by the Repair Station are properly executed prior to releasing the product for return to service. Responsible for ordering, receipt, and timely distribution of manufacturer’s manuals, bulletins, revisions, and Airworthiness Directives. Ensures that all technical data on all articles overhauled or repaired by the Repair Station are kept current with the latest revisions. This data will include manufacturer’s overhaul and maintenance manuals, service bulletins, part specifications and related. Administration approved data and other technical data used by the Repair Station. Ensures that periodic checks are done on all inspection tools. Ensures that calibration of precision test equipment used by Repair Station & technicians is done and is current to use. Ensure that all tools and/or Precision test equipment owned by repair station & technicians is also under the Repair Station calibration program. Furthermore, maintain a current record of those inspections and tests. Determine that no defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component or articles released by the Repair Station. Submit reports of defects or un-airworthy condition in accordance with the applicable Repair Station manuals. See that unairworthy parts are segregated and quarantined in such a way as to prevent their reuse as serviceable parts. Assure the proper execution of a maintenance release when required. Oversee the preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspection of all articles processed by the Repair Station and record results as outlined in this manual. Oversee the proper tagging and identification of all parts and components as outlined in this manual. Provide for continuity of inspection responsibility, assuring completion of required inspection when personnel shift or assignment changes occur. See that unserviceable parts are tagged as unserviceable to prevent their reuse. Verify that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work before it is approved for return to service and that the proper inspection and maintenance records, reports and forms required for such release are properly executed. Maintain files of completed work orders and inspection forms in such a manner that the file pertaining to a specific item repaired can be readily located for review. Ensure that a safe & clean working environment. Receive, disassemble, clean, inspect, flow test, assemble & ship all gas turbine engines and/or modules accordingly, as required per customer PO and Repair Station. Engine troubleshooting, hot section and/or removal of engine modules as required in the field. Travel may be required to perform field service work. Responsible for Planning and co-ordination of Field Service schedule and activities for the repair station Determine equivalency of tools and equipment used by the repair station (other than that recommended by manufacturers) and document that determination.
