About The Position

What You’ll Be Doing: Formulate and implement policies, priorities, and strategic direction for the BWC Information Technology (IT) Division. Oversee all agency technology resources and activities, including customer service, software/hardware, data management, workforce planning, vendor/contractor relationships, fiscal operations, and technical consulting. Develop and execute long-range plans for IT departments, including Office of the CIO, Applications, Enterprise Data Management & Analytics, IT Infrastructure & Operations, and Risk Management Office. Drive innovation by supporting State of Ohio IT initiatives such as shared solutions, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, data sharing, and advanced analytics. Consult with internal and external stakeholders to align IT capabilities with organizational needs and strategic goals. Provide expert guidance to agency leadership on the role of IT in operational and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of\: policies & procedures related to infrastructure & technology, operational & financial principles related to IT, state & federal laws governing workers’ compensation; BWC rules, regulations & procedures for operational & financial areas; management; labor relations ; workforce & succession planning; disaster recovery; business continuity; business alignment; performance & metrics; budgeting; public relations; government structure & processes relative to BWC; interviewing; employee training & development; supervision; computer science; strategic planning; business methods for workers’ compensation insurance; systems technology & development; team building.
  • Skill in\: innovative measures, creative & analytical thinking, high level communication, policy development & implementation, software (e.g. MS Office Suite, MS Project)
  • Ability to\: function in fiduciary capacity (i.e. pursuant to OAC 123\:1-5-01 Unclassified service) ; identify problems in complex sets of variables, adapt professionally to unexpected demands, speak & present complex & sensitive issues to large groups & portray positive image, remain abreast of current business trends, gather critical data & draft reports, address sensitive inquiries. build & maintain a positive working atmosphere of growth & participation; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; read & record figures accurately; maintain accurate records.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years\: Proven leadership experience in managing large-scale IT operations and strategic planning within a complex organization.
  • 5+ years\: Strong background in enterprise technology management, including infrastructure, applications, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
  • 3+ years\: Demonstrated success in policy development, fiscal oversight, and vendor/contractor management.
  • 3+ years\: Experience implementing emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and data-driven solutions.
  • 3+years\: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, external partners, and customer communities.
  • Familiarity with state or public-sector IT governance, compliance, and innovation initiatives.
