GFT is seeking a Chief Highway Engineer to join our Highway team! A flexible/hybrid work environment is applicable to this position, with the reporting office being any of GFT’s Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia offices. What you’ll be challenged to do: The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 20 years of progressive design experience in roadway engineering design for highway, interchange, and/or urban roadway design services to public clients. Serves as a technical specialist in analyzing roadway and drainage projects, establishing design criteria and executing designs. The candidate will be responsible for strategic and technical leadership of the Highway component of major projects. Exercises technical oversight of a highway group. Serves as a senior technical advisor for Highway Design. Actively engaged at a regional/national level in professional societies. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Contributes to the development and execution of highway business plans, budgets and performance goals. Contributes advice and direction to major proposals, risk assessment and mitigation plans, and project execution plans. Supervises staff and responsible for key technical relationships with clients. Serves as a Chief Engineer or Strategist for large, complex or strategic projects. May serve as Quality Assurance Manager. Contributes to corporate strategy, plans and programs. Develops scopes of work and provides input for negotiations on complex and/or large projects where multiple disciplines are involved and work is conducted across multiple offices and/or disciplines. Acts as technical specialist in the development of proposals. Responsible to work on multiple concurrent assignments and time management. Responsible for executing the project scope of work and managing the technical development of the work and maintaining the budget and schedule. Representing GFT at industry and professional events. What you will bring to our firm: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
