About The Position

This role oversees the company’s Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) program. This role also overwatches the company’s fire prevention program and various inspection requirements. Responsible for coordination with local fire authorities and managing those relationships. Requires sound judgment and discretion as well as the ability to effectively manage the ARFF team and emergency scenes. The Chief ARFF will be proactive and interact with other company employees, contractors, customers, and regulatory agencies in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s license
  • Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors and the public
  • Ability to read, write, type, and communicate effectively
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure exercising good judgement in both emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a high pace environment
  • Ability to use multiple software platforms including but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite and report management platforms
  • Ability to complete ARFF Certification defined by company within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to work in various work environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ICT airport badge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Services, Emergency Management or related field preferred
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience as a firefighter plus the below certifications & license:
  • NFPA Firefighter 1 & 2 Certification
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license

Nice To Haves

  • ARFF experience/certification preferred
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Emergency response to aircraft incidents and fires using specialized firefighting and rescue techniques
  • Emergency response to structural incidents and fires using specialized firefighting and rescue techniques
  • Emergency response to provide emergency medical assistance
  • Ensure firefighting apparatus and equipment are properly maintained
  • Participate in after action briefings to improve future responses
  • Prepare and present reports as needed
  • Complete regular inspections as required by NFPA, insurance provider, and company
  • Coordinate day to day activities with all onsite Security and Fire personnel
  • May be responsible for structured on the job training activities with new team members
  • Direct and evaluate assigned staff
  • Lead emergency operations during all aircraft, fire and medical emergencies coordinating with other internal departments as well as external agencies
  • Oversee all training programs to ensure personnel maintain required certifications and proficiency in specialized techniques
  • Oversee all company fire education programs, training, and fire and fire response drills
  • Oversee and manage assigned team budget
  • Perform other duties as assigned
