About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial excellence of Tejano Center's (TC) schools and community programs. The CFO will set the financial strategy for TC's $43M revenue budget while also designing and delivering effective financial systems across the organization. The CFO will guide decision making to the senior leadership team, CEO/Superintendent and board of trustees. The CFO will be ultimately responsible for meeting school and program area's financial needs. The CFO reports directly to the CEO/Superintendent and plays an essential role as a member of the TC senior leadership team. The CFO works closely and collaboratively with other TC senior leadership to meet the needs of the RYSS schools, community programs, and the overall goals of TC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or other related field required; master's degree preferred (MPA, MBA, or other relevant degrees)
  • 7+ years' experience with supervisory responsibility in the fields of finance or accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting systems, and economics
  • Knowledge of information/data processing systems and financial applications
  • Ability to resolve conflict, listen and appropriately respond to concerns
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel, implement policies, and interpret data
  • Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience supervising finance and operational teams, working with boards, developing budgets, and working with auditors
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Drive

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies that align with the organization's sustainability and growth goals.
  • Manage a team of seven, including Comptroller, to ensure each team member is coached, and well positioned to meet the standard and achieve their goals.
  • Oversee real estate transactions and investments to support organizational growth and stability.
  • Set vision and expectations for financial best practices, utilize standard operating procedures, and generally serve as a point of reference for TC financial systems and planning.
  • Serve on the TC Senior Leadership Team and act as thought partner to the CEO, Board, and other key stakeholders on financial matters.
  • Spearhead the process to create proactive strategies that keep TC aligned with its financial targets and support organizational growth.
  • Ensure that the central office financial team provides excellent, timely, and direct support to all programs and services.
  • Manage the school-based and community-based program budgetary process and oversee reimbursements and approval processes.
  • Lead high-level internal planning regarding TC/RYSS's expansion, to ensure alignment with financial projections.
  • Develop and monitor internal policies, practices and systems to facilitate safe and efficient operations across the organization.
  • Ensure preparation and integrity of all general accounting records and related financial reports.
  • Maintain the organization's investment portfolio and ensure that these funds are adequately protected against loss.
  • Implement and maintain internal control procedures to ensure the safeguarding of assets and reliability of accounting data.
  • Oversee the auditing program for all funds and work cooperatively with the organization's independent and internal auditors.
  • Contribute to the overall success of TC in reaching its mission.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO/Superintendent.
