About The Position

Chief Financial Officer is a fulltime salaried position of a supervisory nature involving coordination and oversight of administrative functions of financial operations.

Requirements

  • Four years professional experience supervising staff working in a non-profit business environment preferred
  • Ability and willingness to manage emotional or physical emergencies that can arise.
  • Ability to work on a team, sharing responsibilities with co-workers, accepting direction from supervisors, and contributing ideas.
  • Ability to pass all required trainings, specified by the program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting or a closely related field, Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid State of Maine Driver’s License and be insurable by Central Aroostook Association’s insurance carrier.

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Development, oversight and management of association budgetary process.
  • Collaborates with all programs and supporting departments to build an operating budget which meets the funding standards and limits.
  • Monitors and reports on budget monthly to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Oversees and directs Business Office personnel to ensure financial process is timely, accurate and documented to ensure accounting functions meet Maine Uniform Accounting and Auditing Practices for Community Agencies.
  • Develops, awards and monitors Requests for Proposal for essential services including but not limited to; staff benefits, property/liability insurance, heating oil, banking etc.
  • Monitors and oversees the association investment account as well as the staff retirement account and reports to the Board Finance committee and Executive Director on investment developments.
  • Oversees and directs Maintenance/Custodial Department in the maintenance, repair and wellbeing of the association building assets, information services and ground maintenance.
  • Oversees the operation of a vehicle fleet including preventative maintenance, repairs and purchasing.
  • Improve organization by identifying potential program efficiencies and cost saving measures.
  • Assist in diagnosis and resolution of organizational financial problems by examining factual information; present options and recommend courses of action.
  • Guide the strategic planning efforts by directing needs assessments, resource analysis, corporate goal setting and develop corporate strategies.

  • Conduct regular evaluation of pay and classification plan to ensure appropriate compensation for all positions.
  • Conduct periodic pay surveys, monitor individual pay actions, recommend plan and implement pay structure revisions in collaboration with the Director of People and Engagement.
  • Maintain employee benefit programs and inform employee of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends, recommend benefit programs to Executive Director, obtain and evaluate benefit contract bids, design and conduct educational programs and benefit programs.
  • Assist in interpretation of personal policies to ensure consistent and equitable process for personnel decisions.
  • Communicate new or revised financial policies as they occur and develop or amend policies as warranted with the Executive Director and for Board approval.
  • Review policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of all funding sources such as the Department of Education, DHHS Grant-in-Aid, MaineCare, United Way, and other applicable funding.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
