Job SummaryThe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial strategy, administration, and stewardship of the organization’s financial resources. The CFO provides leadership for financial planning, budgeting, reporting, investment oversight, risk management, and internal controls while ensuring that financial practices support the mission and long-term sustainability of the organization.   This role serves as a senior financial advisor to executive leadership and works closely with governance bodies to ensure sound fiscal management, transparency, and compliance with applicable laws and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including management of finance and accounting teams.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial management practices.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and governance groups.
  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a CFO, Controller, or Director of Finance in nonprofit, corporate, or institutional environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and analysis to support mission-driven initiatives and long-term sustainability.
  • Oversee accounting, budgeting, treasury, tax compliance, and financial reporting functions.
  • Develop and monitor annual operating budgets and long-range financial plans.
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and reports for leadership and governing bodies.
  • Manage banking relationships, cash flow, financing, and debt obligations.
  • Oversee investments in collaboration with finance and investment committees, ensuring alignment with organizational policies.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, financial policies, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide financial oversight and guidance for organizational entities, ministries, and related programs.
  • Support financial planning and analysis related to major initiatives, capital projects, and operational decisions.
  • Coordinate internal audit activities and ensure continuous improvement of financial systems and procedures.
