About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is an integral member of the senior leadership team responsible for scaling the company’s financial operations and business performance at a transformative point in the company’s lifecycle, preparing for high growth as a global public company. As a business partner to the CEO, the CFO will combine strategic business insights and expert organizational management, culled from a track record of experience, to guide operational and commercial scale, in addition to communication of financial strategy and planning both internally and externally to public and private investors. In this influential position, the CFO will assure the Company remains financially sound, conducts its financial affairs legally and ethically, and is prepared for future challenges and business growth. As a key member of the senior management team and a major resource to the Board, the CFO, along with his/her colleagues, researches, presents, evaluates, and helps finalize overall company strategy and effective execution of same. The CFO establishes and maintains professional relationships with key outside entities such as auditors, investors, bankers, etc. He/she creates, maintains, and assures compliance of all financial and related policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • At least five years’ experience as CFO or equivalent, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience leading a company through growth and implementing the process and systems needed to scale a business, preferably with an international dimension.
  • Demonstrable M&A experience.
  • Experience presenting to, and interacting with boards, banks, analysts, and investors.
  • Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and accounting software packages.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
  • 5 year in building GAAP and SOX compliant finance and accounting organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or Accounting.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in financial roles of increasing level and responsibility.
  • Experience within the healthcare industry and understanding of the regulatory environment.
  • Success contributing to growth strategy.
  • Hands-on financial operations leadership experience overseeing accounting and controls, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, payroll, revenue cycle, treasury, and tax.
  • Strong controls and compliance orientation.
  • A track record of building strong teams and leading/influencing through others in a performance driven culture.
  • Superior communication, presentation and negotiating skills at all levels with internal and external constituents, investors, and the Board.
  • Track record of short and long-term budgeting and capital planning.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a CFO (or part of a finance team) having taken a life sciences entity through an S1 filing and IPO, and/or CFO of a publicly traded life sciences corporation strongly preferred.
  • Established connections with Wall Street and a strong fund-raising network.
  • A CPA and/or MBA would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses organizational performance against milestones and develops the annual budget and the company’s long-term strategy.
  • Develops tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the company leadership and makes actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Engages the board finance, audit, and investment committees around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery.
  • Assists in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside entities needed to financially operate the business, including auditors, investors and. bankers
  • Participates in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model, and operational execution.
  • Develops and maintains capital budget in line with cash forecasting.
  • Oversees cash, investment, and asset management.
  • Participates in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.
  • Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for federal and state taxes and other reporting requirements.
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Develops and leads the finance and accounting team.
