We are seeking a strategic and operationally focused Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial functions of the organization and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This role will drive financial performance, cash flow management, capital strategy, and retail profitability across a multi-location grocery environment. The CFO will partner closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive leadership to support business decisions, store performance, and long-term organizational growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA required
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
5+ years in a senior finance leadership role (Controller, VP Finance, or CFO)
Experience in retail, grocery, and multi-location operations required

Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board on financial performance, capital planning, and business strategy
Lead long-range financial planning, forecasting, and capital allocation
Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis for store operations, closures, acquisitions, and investments
Oversee financial performance across all retail locations, including:
Store-level P&L performance
Labor cost management and scheduling efficiency
Margin, shrink, and inventory performance
Partner with Operations to improve store profitability and financial accountability
Develop KPIs and dashboards to support field leadership
Direct all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, payroll accounting, and inventory accounting
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
Lead external financial audits and benefit plan audits (401(k), ESOP, and health & welfare plans)
Ensure strong internal controls and GAAP compliance
Manage banking relationships, debt facilities, and lender compliance
Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital optimization
Evaluate financing alternatives and capital market strategies
Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts across stores and corporate functions
Monitor actual vs. budget performance and communicate variances
Provide cost and profitability analysis to support pricing and merchandising decisions
Oversee corporate tax compliance and multi-state tax strategy
Manage insurance programs and enterprise risk exposure
Partner with HR/Benefits on self-funded health plan financial performance and liabilities
Support ESOP valuation readiness, repurchase obligation planning, and trustee reporting
Partner with external valuation firms, auditors, and advisors
Prepare Board and Audit Committee reporting and materials
