Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic partner to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, responsible for stewardship of Healthy Community Health Center’s financial health. The CFO provides collaborative leadership across the organization, ensuring financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the mission of a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role emphasizes strategic vision, creative problem solving, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in nonprofit healthcare or FQHC settings.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic financial management and organizational leadership.
  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The ability to speak, read and write in English is necessary.
  • This position must be able to sit/stand 98% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), HRSA, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis to leadership and the Board.
  • Oversee accounting, payroll, billing, grants finance, and audit functions.
  • Serve as primary liaison with auditors, banks, funders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support mission driven decision-making through data-informed financial insights.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners.
  • Identify risks and opportunities and develop creative, sustainable financial solutions.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and leadership team to drive organizational strategy.
  • Support growth, innovation, and operational excellence across clinical and administrative functions.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear guidance for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Apply a working knowledge of raising capital outside traditional lines of credit to support expansion, infrastructure investment, and mission driven initiatives
  • Champion a collaborative, team based culture aligned with nonprofit values.
  • Oversee financial components of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Proven experience with philanthropy and managing relationships with external financial partners, including lenders, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Revenue Cycle Management Expertise, to include billing, collections, billing systems, Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Cost Report preparation and filling for both Medicare and Medicaid
  • Ensure accuracy of HRSA, cost reports, UDS, and other required submissions.
  • Proactively identify funding opportunities that advance the mission.
  • Maintain funded scope of project and ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and operations team.
  • Promote ethical practices, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage innovation and professional growth within a mission driven environment.
