About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial health of the organization. The CFO will provide strategic direction, financial planning, and management to support the company's growth and long-term success. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and expertise in financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the President, Board of Directors, and senior management team.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team to drive performance and professional growth.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of budgets, financial forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Monitor financial performance by analyzing financial statements, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, including compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Participate in and support mergers and acquisitions. Perform due diligence, participate in purchase negotiations, and take ownership for the integration of newly acquired operations.
  • Coordinate with external resources on tax planning, strategy, returns, and reporting.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
  • Manage insurance program for P&C, product liability, and related ancillary lines.
  • Ensure effective internal controls and financial governance.
  • Interface with legal counsel regarding financial matters, per the authority of the President.
  • Manage capital allocation, including investments, financing, and cash flow.
  • Oversee capital raising activities, including debt and equity financing.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with financial institutions, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage audits and liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations and industry trends.
  • Optimize financial processes and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives specific to the finance and IT functions, as well as organizational wide.
  • Responsible for executive oversight of the IT department, prioritizing and directing work within the department for the best use of hardware and software platforms.
  • Responsible for the IT Steering Committee and governance of software applications, related policies, procedures, and related capex investments.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors, President, and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial performance and operational metrics to guide business strategy.
  • Coach, train, and mentor staff for performance objectives.
  • Create and maintain a positive environment of highly motivated, collaborative teams who feel empowered.
  • Perform routine supervisory functions in accordance with state and federal employment law.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior financial management role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technologically savvy; expertise in M365 suite and using an ERP tool, Epicor preferred.
