About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial, accounting, budget management, and planning activities within the agency. This position ensures that financial policies and procedures align with state statutes and federal regulations while providing guidance to senior leadership on fiscal matters. The CFO will also manage complex procurement, contract, and grants management activities, as well as internal audit and analytics services.

Requirements

• Five years of leadership/management experience in mid to large size accounting or financial management operations within the last ten years.
• Experience in development of finance policy, complex budgets, and funding strategies.
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business management, public administration or policy, economics or other closely related field.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in accounting, finance, business management, public administration or policy, economics or other closely related field.
• Experience in Statewide enterprise systems such as SWIFT, SEMA4, BPAS, CBS, FNTS, AMA, ELM, and/or other reporting tools.
• Experience in leading change and management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
• Provide overall leadership to the Administrative and Financial Services department.
• Analyze the impact of executive decisions on department financial policies and operations.
• Direct the preparation of special financial reports to analyze and evaluate program activities for fiscal compliance.
