The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) seeks a Chief of Field Auditing to lead the construction safety auditing program within the Office of Construction Safety (OCS). Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Chief will oversee the construction safety auditing program, ensuring effective implementation and enforcement of all DDC safety policies and procedures on capital construction projects. This role includes the following key responsibilities: supervise and mentor Safety Auditors conducting field audits and compliance reviews; identify and address unsafe site conditions and practices at active construction sites; coordinate with Code Compliance and Accident Investigations Units; represent OCS in pre-construction and progress meetings; prepare and manage weekly audit schedules, prioritize high-risk construction projects, analyze ScoreCard Plus data to track trends and safety deviations; monitor corrective actions implementation to mitigate safety risks at construction sites; develop audit tools, metrics, and safety policies; and promote a proactive safety culture across DDC divisions. The Chief will also represent OCS at construction coordination meetings, promote a proactive safety culture, and ensure safety risks are identified and mitigated in line with DDC and regulatory requirements. This leadership role blends field oversight, data analysis, inter-agency coordination, and strategic planning to elevate construction safety standards citywide.
