About The Position

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) holds overall accountability and authority for the strategic, operational, financial, and clinical performance of CBHC. Appointed by and reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO works in close partnership with the Board to develop, implement, and monitor the agency’s strategic plan, ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability, regulatory compliance, high-quality services, and a positive organizational culture. The CEO leads approximately 300 employees, oversees an annual operating budget exceeding $21 million, and directly supervises the senior executive team, ensuring that all agency operations remain aligned with CBHC’s mission and values. As CBHC enters a period of significant opportunity and transformation, the next CEO will guide the organization through service expansion, increasing regulatory and funding complexity, workforce challenges, and the continued modernization of clinical, operational, and data systems. This role requires a healthcare leader experienced in navigating change and growth while maintaining financial stability, clinical excellence, and organizational integrity.

Requirements

  • Licensed mental health professional (Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychiatric ARNP), licensed in Florida or eligible for Florida licensure, with a minimum of seven (7) years of executive-level leadership experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or similarly complex nonprofit or public-sector organization OR relevant graduate level education (including but not limited to CPA and/or MBA and or JD) with a minimum of seven (7) years of executive-level leadership experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or similarly complex nonprofit or public-sector organization.
  • Executive-level experience is defined as senior leadership responsibility with direct authority over organizational strategy, budgets, operations, and personnel, including accountability for financial performance, regulatory compliance, and achievement of organizational outcomes. This experience typically includes oversight of multiple departments or service lines and direct reporting to a governing board or equivalent authority.
  • This requirement includes verification that the individual has not been excluded from Medicaid systems and has no documented history of questionable billing activity.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 platforms, including but not limited to Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Forms.
  • Licensure, certification, and registration are current, including continuing education requirements.
  • CBHC New Hire Orientation (NHO) completed within the first two (2) months of employment.
  • All assigned training courses are current.
  • Ability to pass a level II DCF Background clearance and drug test, as necessary.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background screening, which will include a credit history review where job-related and permitted by law.
  • Candidates will be subject to a review of publicly available information, including online content and social media presence, consistent with applicable laws and agency policy.
  • Ability to obtain a valid FL drivers’ license, insurance, and exhibit a safe driving record.
  • Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Medicaid, managed care organizations, and Florida funding systems is strongly preferred.
  • Experience building and maintaining strategic partnerships with county, state and federal government agencies, political agencies, policymakers and lobbyists to influence mental health policy and secure funding is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to relocate to Charlotte County is strongly preferred.
