We are seeking a Chief Estimator who provides overall support to securing new business along with working with change orders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing inquiries assigned from reception, scope clarification and strategy development to proposal completion and submittal. This position will analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare cost estimates for products and projects. It is also the responsibility of the Chief Estimator to represent the company in attending meetings within the company, with customers, and with project owners and build new and lasting relationships within the industry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical estimating
  • Exceptional Plan & Specifications Reading
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Microsoft Office Suite required with strong Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Communication is vital, including asking for clarification, collaborating, and reporting back to team members and/or supervisors.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Autobid software and other system used in the preconstruction process.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare bid proposals
  • Participate in pre job bid meetings, job interviews and post – bid recap meetings.
  • Complete understanding of blueprint, specifications and scope of work
  • Obtaining bids from qualified subcontractors
  • Collaborating with general contractors, and clients to discuss and meet the needs for design, corrections, and cost evaluations.
  • Construction budget preparation
  • Work closely with project managers in both the proposal and execution phases to ensure optimal strategies are developed and followed through to completion
  • Collecting and analyzing bids.
  • Assist in pipe take off if needed
  • Highly skilled at scope comparison for multiple bids.
  • In-depth understanding of local commercial construction market.
