About The Position
The Chief Engineer at JLL is responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and responsible operation of all building systems and equipment within a Class A building located in SOHO, New York, NY. This role requires a hands-on approach, as the Chief Engineer will be on-site Monday through Friday, with the possibility of working during off-hours for emergencies or special events. The Chief Engineer will lead the engineering team and take primary responsibility for the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems, ensuring that they function optimally and meet safety standards. In this position, the Chief Engineer will supervise and manage third-party contractors, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards. A key aspect of the role involves creating and routinely updating a documented maintenance plan that includes preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance procedures. The Chief Engineer will also participate regularly in client-facing and property team communications, providing updates and addressing any concerns that may arise. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will lead the creation and management of the engineering budget, participating in the overall operating budget process. This includes assisting in the development of a capital improvement plan and selecting, scheduling, supervising, and directing contractors while monitoring and documenting their performance. The Chief Engineer will be expected to respond effectively to emergencies and service calls, ensuring that all issues are resolved promptly. Furthermore, the role involves leading and organizing ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and procedures to ensure that the engineering team is well-equipped to handle their responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned by the property management team or client as needed.
