Requirements

  • Be able to manage time effectively, complete required tasks on time
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
  • Need to be a team player – if you like to work on an island by yourself, this won’t be a good fit for you!
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
  • At least 2 years of experience in a hotel environment at the Engineer or Chief Engineer level required
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Stable work history required

  • HVAC certified
  • Pool certified
  • Technician certified and/or combination preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee building maintenance to ensure guest and employee safety
  • Manage HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance and room care programs
  • Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate work orders and repairs
  • Handle minor repairs and renovation projects (carpentry, painting, furniture setup)
  • Maintain pools, grounds, tools, and equipment, including chemical levels and safety standards
  • Monitor energy usage and implement conservation efforts
  • Inspect property daily and report major needs to the General Manager
  • Maintain key inventory and assist with administrative tasks as needed
