The Chief Engineer is primarily responsible for supervising all engineering areas and departmental personnel. This individual will promote a safe working environment and quality service to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. The Engineering Supervisor will work with supervisors, inspectors, and department heads to ensure maximum efficiency. Essential functions Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. Maintain complete knowledge of hotel facilities and functions. Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Install, maintain, repair, and operate hotel machinery, equipment, and related systems. Supervises and assists the installation and construction of all work. Maintain the entire building, including landscape maintenance. Develop and implement cost reduction, work simplification, and method improvement programs. Update and maintain engineering policies, procedures, work orders, etc. Prepare and adjust weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts. Ensure that staff reports to work as scheduled. Document any late or absent employees. Coordinate breaks and assign work duties to staff. Provide proper training and reinforcement to meet standards and requirements. Perform general repairs in maintenance related disciplines, including but not limited to: carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, electrical, and finish work. Prioritize work orders through urgent requests and established hotel area down times in order to minimize inconveniencing guests. Evaluates all engineering leases, contracts, and bids. Effectively interact with department heads. Confers with landscape consultants regarding hotel beautification. Respond to guest room calls as required. Ensure timely and accurate completion of projects. Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service Maintain department equipment and supply inventory levels. Ensure security, cleanliness, preventive maintenance and repair of engineering tools, equipment and safety features, according to established procedures and within budget. Promote sanitation, safety, security efforts, and guest services of the Hotel. Submit weekly progress reports to the General Manager. Submits recommendations to the General Manager for approval. Submits requisitions and purchase orders for materials needed to the General Manager for approval. Follow hotel policy with lost/stolen items. See that all engineering installations, constructions, and operations comply with hotel and government agencies. Adhere to hotel requirements for guest/employee accidents or injuries and in emergency situations. Participate on the Hotel’s Emergency Evacuation Team. Participate in OSHA/Safety Programs within the hotel through awareness in every day job functions. Implement OSHA and ADA guidelines and programs.
