The Top Hat Manufacturing Chief Engineer directly reports to Plant Manager which guarantees the right involvement of the plant. They functionally report to the Program Manufacturing Chief Engineer and Chief Vehicle Engineer (CVE). Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Project Management Phase: Manages the Shop Launch Managers (Plant) Oversees the activities managed by the Process Project Leaders assigned to the project from Vehicle Process Engineering (Stamping, Welding, Paint, General Assembly, Supply, Industrial, Plastic Parts, IT) Coordinates and ensures the implementation of KPI book for each area: Stamping, Welding, Paint, GA, Geometry & Supply with leadership Leads meetings: Creates new launch Lessons Learned and ensures past Lessons Learned from the Plant and previous launches are implemented to drive MCE standard improvements Ensures availability of resources & implementation of training for plant teams, escalates deficiencies as needed 1. Contract Phase: Design to Manufacturing Organizes leads the Introduction Workshop (introduction new vehicle in the plant) Defines Design to Manufacturing (DtM) targets according to KPI book defined by MCE and Standards & Support Confirms transformation cost with Plant Finance team and the split between the different areas Escalates all topics in deviation to standards, technical feasibility issues, DtM improvements (CAPEX, EST reduction, etc.) Supports development and finalization of the Launch Development Plan (LDP) according to initial target 1. Digital Phase Participates in hot housing Ensures feasibility study is completed with all areas (Stamping, Welding, Paint, General Assembly, Ergonomy, Packaging, Quality) Provides Manufacturing voice during product design process to ensure DtM targets are communicated and considered by all launch stakeholders Oversees the process to verify the impact of engineering changes through virtual assessments Organizes the digital ring with VPE/GAPE 4a. Physical Phase: Launch Moving into Plant Defines the build plan & ramp up in cooperation with Project Planning considering the synchronizing of product, process, and industrial constraints Participates in the creation of the launch waves considering the constraints of manufacturing Ensures that changes (JPH, shifts, mass production launch) are considered in project activities and schedule Ensures workstation readiness and organizes burst builds Ensures detection and solution of defects during pilot phase 4b. Physical Phase: Quality Convergence Supports Plant Hand off for Mass Production MCE for main quality KPIs Ensures the implementation of action plans to achieve the targets not achieved of the project Leads the weekly launch meeting with project manager, plant manager, quality manager to get status for all shops Drives escalation process for product and process modifications, planning, cost issues, etc. Qualifications
