About The Position

WROC-RochesterFirst is hiring a Chief Engineer to join our award winning team. With the credibility and strength of our 75 year trusted brand, we are Rochester, NY's universal local source for news, weather and information across all platforms. The Chief Engineer reports directly to the station VP & General Manager and manages all aspects of the Engineering department including the maintenance of all broadcast technology and equipment at the station and transmitter site. Ensures station compliance with rules and regulations applicable to FCC, local, state, and federal laws. Oversees the distribution of statewide and regional West Virginia University sports content to other Nexstar stations along with AT&T SportsNet in Pittsburgh. Implements new technologies and technical infrastructure for the station. Manages engineering and technology budgets and capital projects to the established budgets. Manages and coordinates station connectivity, production set ups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems, and editing systems. Assist News department in maintaining critical systems for live on air and streaming newscasts and programming. Implements, installs and maintains engineering systems and provides end-user support across all departments. Evaluates, selects, installs, services and maintains station equipment and information technology systems. Communicates and coordinates with equipment maintenance and training with vendors/contractors. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, IT, Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of television and digital studio broadcast and production systems.
  • Experience managing, maintaining, and supporting IT and networking systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Fluency in English; strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
