As part of the Connected Aviation Air Traffic Solutions (ATS) team in Marlborough, MA, you'll be instrumental in developing the next generation of Air Traffic Control Radar Systems and supporting our existing fielded systems. As a Chief Engineer, Air Traffic Systems Surveillance Programs you will join our Air Traffic Solutions Chief Engineering Department. In this role, you will lead multifunction teams to provide modern surveillance radar products that support air traffic operations in the US and around the globe. This is a multi-faceted role where you will be a senior-level individual engineering contributor on proposals and programs with potential program assignments to include: Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), Control Account Manager (CAM), Product Owner, Systems Engineer, Technical Reviewer and decision maker. What You Will Do: You will work onsite in Marlborough, MA with teams that are located in the US, UK and Canada.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • 8 years of practical experience with Design, Development, Production or Sustainment of complex Radar Surveillance systems with an understanding of radar fundamentals
  • Prior experience leading small to medium teams direct or indirect
  • Prior experience interacting with Development and Production teams to resolve discrepancies and issues
  • Prior experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems in all phases of the system lifecycle
  • Prior experience recognizing areas of improvement or customer needs and relaying them to senior staff as business development possibilities
  • Prior experience working with customers, end users, hardware and software design teams, maintainers and lo9gisticians
  • Prior experience generating and/or reviewing technical documentation
  • Prior experience preparing / facilitating customer and management level briefings
  • Prior experience in proposal estimation, request for proposals and performing cost estimates
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior program management or functional engineering management experience; Chief Engineer, Technical Project Manager, Lead Systems Engineer, Hardware Design Engineer, CAM or IPTL experience
  • Prior experience in earned value management tracking and reporting though finance tools such as the PMX tool suite
  • Prior experience with Design, Development, Production and Sustainment of complex Radar systems
  • Understanding of Air Traffic Management concepts
  • Understanding of the Product / Program Lifecycle Management

Responsibilities

  • Review the technical quality of the work products produced while also ensuring that the work is done on schedule and within budget on the engineering portion of the program
  • Build a cohesive and collaborative team able to adapt to changing customer needs in surveillance radars
  • Ensure the team is following established processes, protocols and procedures
  • Support the performance of all the members on your teams, including providing open and honest feedback
  • Serve as a day-to-day liaison from the programs to engineering management concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition for those working in the program and/or product area
  • Coordinate program staffing demand needs with Engineering Management
  • Lead the cost, schedule, and technical activities for Engineering on new ATS Surveillance pursuits
  • This position requires occasional international and domestic travel.
