About The Position

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital seeks a Chief of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology to lead care for complex brain and spine cases at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience. Requirements

• MD/DO (or equivalent) with board certification in Anesthesiology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Fellowship training or significant experience in neurosurgical anesthesiology.
• Proven leadership skills in clinical, academic, and/or administrative settings.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthetic care for complex neurosurgical procedures, including intracranial, spine, functional, and vascular cases.
• Lead and support advanced practices such as awake and sitting craniotomies and aneurysm clipping.
• Direct and optimize service line operations, including OR utilization, patient flow, and first-case starts.
• Develop and implement evidence-based protocols, enhance ERAS pathways, and advance research initiatives.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
• Participate in teaching and supervision of residents, fellows, and medical students, while contributing to scholarship in neuroanesthesiology.
• Serve on departmental and institutional leadership committees, contributing to strategy, innovation, and quality improvement.
