About The Position

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) serves as the head of the Development Department and is responsible for all fundraising efforts across the organization. This includes individual giving, major gifts, institutional giving, special events, and planned giving. The CDO plays a critical role in securing the essential revenue that advances CV’s mission and ensures organizational sustainability. As a key member of the Executive Team, the CDO provides high-level input and strategic guidance across all departments and works closely with the President and Board of Directors to shape the long-term vision, direction, and priorities of CV.

Requirements

  • Passion for furthering the mission and vision of CatholicVote.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience as head of development, fundraising, or sales department.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-channel fundraising strategies and securing significant gifts from individuals.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Familiarity with Hubspot CRM platform.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a development team of five to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and evaluation of development staff.
  • Oversee and enforce the fundraising budgets, projections, and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of all donor activity with Hubspot CRM.
  • Ensure compliance with all fundraising-related regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee all fundraising initiatives including capital campaigns, annual campaigns, major gifts, direct mail, grants, sponsorships, and special events.
  • Take ownership over all charitable giving platforms and donor advised giving fund platforms.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors.
  • Collaborate closely with the advocacy and marketing team staff to ensure fundraising strategies reflect organizational priorities.
