About The Position

The Chief Deputy Administrator, Correctional Program, CEA (Working Title, Chief Deputy Warden) is responsible for overseeing a State correctional institution for adults. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating all institutional programs and employees through subordinate managers and staff. The Chief Deputy Administrator acts on behalf of the Warden in their absence and is the operations chief over all institution programs and staff. The Warden holds overall administrative responsibility for institutional effectiveness and external relationships with governmental, legislative, community, and business leaders.

Requirements

• Must be a civil service employee with permanent civil service status.
• Must be a current or former employee of the Legislature for two or more consecutive years.
• Must be a nonelected exempt employee of the Executive Branch for two or more consecutive years.
• Meet peace officer requirements including citizenship, felony disqualification, firearm conviction disqualification, age limitation, background investigation, medical requirement, and training requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Broad administrative or program manager experience with substantial participation in the formulation, operation, and/or evaluation of program policies.
• Knowledge of California State Government organization and functions.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and recommend effective courses of action.
