About The Position

The Chief Cook will be responsible for the planning, preparing, cooking, storing of food for patients, staff, guests and catering functions within the direction of the Director/Assistant Director of the Food and Nutrition Services team. The Chief Cook carries out all duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of the Medical Center, fully supports the Medical Center’s Values, Mission, and Vision. The Chief Cook will have knowledge of hospital food service systems, and have demonstrated ability to interact, relate to, work with and support the work activities of a diverse workforce.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a large quantity, > 1,000 meals per day, cooking in a commercial kitchen.
  • Knowledge and understanding of public health, safety and proper food handling and sanitation standards and procedures related to food preparation and service.
  • Ability to breakdown and convert units of measure for ordering and cooking purposes.
  • Ability to properly operate and maintain kitchen equipment for a commercial kitchen.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Attending all job-related meetings and training services.
  • Ability to report to work on time and to maintain a good attendance on a regular basis in accordance with the medical center’s attendance policy.
  • Maintain good physical and personal hygiene
  • Cabell County Food Handlers Card.
  • Serve Safe certified within first 2 years of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Team leads will also be efficient.
