About The Position

The Chief of the Bureau of Community Health Services is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the Long Term Care Services programs within the Health Department. Requirements

• Master's degree in nursing or public health from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of public health nursing experience, with three years in a supervisory capacity.
• Thorough knowledge of public health nursing principles, practices, procedures, and methods.
• Thorough knowledge of current health and human services programs, resources, and trends.
• Thorough knowledge of public health program supervision.
• Skills in the supervision of public health professionals and support staff.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other health agencies.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the programs of Long Term Care Services in the Health Department.
• Interprets and develops standards, policies, and procedures.
• Initiates, develops, implements, and modifies programs and services provided by the Bureau.
• Supervises professional public health managers, professional staff, and support staff.
• Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of programs and staff.
• Coordinates the activities of the Bureau with the services provided by other health care agencies.
• Provides advice and consultation to staff and serves as liaison to other agencies.
• Plans, prepares, and administers operating and grant budgets.
• Directs the preparation and maintenance of records, reports, correspondence, and grant proposals.
