A nursing student may work as a homemaker-home health aide with a written New Jersey Board of Nursing waiver in place of a certificate. Negative PPD test. Qualifications: A current, valid homemaker-home health aide certificate in good standing issued by the New Jersey Board of Nursing. Ability to pass a written/oral competency examination with a minimum score of 70%. Ability to demonstrate proficiency and clinical competencies related to the skills required of a certified homemaker-home health aide. Ability to read, write, and carry out verbal and written instructions in English, follow the plan of care as well as the delegation/direction of the Director of Nursing and/or Nursing Supervisor. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with the elderly, disabled and sick and work effectively with the demands of the job; be flexible with work hours and location. Must be able to pass a NJ Board of Nursing criminal background check(s), driving record abstract (if applicable), social security verification, identity verification, and produce legal authorization to work in the U.S. Physical Requirements: This position routinely requires work in a variety of home settings and travel to and from clients’ homes, either by public transportation or car. The CHHA must be able to meet the physical demands of field work in client’s homes and meet the health requirements in accordance with Agency policy for employees providing in-home client care. Must have ability to adapt to various environments and locations. Must be able to meet the physical care needs and demands of the position including but not limited to: ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds, standing, bending, twisting, stair climbing, lifting items, transferring clients, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stretching, standing, stooping, walking up and down stairs, seeing, hearing, speaking, writing, carrying, and weight bearing activities. Involves exposure to blood and body fluids or tissue. Involves exposure to household dust, mold, mildew, dirt, and household cleaning solutions. Requires ability to work household appliances.
