About The Position

The Chemotherapy RN is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, the Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services. As such, this performance evaluation is based on these standards. Requirements

  • Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.
  • Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course required at hire or completed within 2 weeks of hire date.
  • BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Appropriate nursing practice/experience within the past five (5) years or evidence of successful refresher program.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification for Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, and other specialty areas.
  • PALS certification for Pediatrics and Emergency Department.
  • TNCC certification for Emergency Department within 18 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
  • Assist patients in attaining, maintaining, and restoring health.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for nursing.
  • Follow the MS Nurse Practice Act and ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Comply with Accreditation Standards and CDC Guidelines for Infection Control.
