Responsibilities

  • Accurately and timely prepares all chemotherapy medications, including IV medications, under the direct supervision of the pharmacist as per policy and regulation.
  • Compounds IV/chemotherapy medications in a cleanroom environment according to USP 797 and USP 800 standards.
  • Completes expired medication inspections.
  • Answers phones to assist in dispensing questions.
  • Ensures all medications are properly delivered.
  • Breaks down wholesaler order, completes receipt documentation and stocks in designated location.
  • Maintain organization of storage areas/storeroom and ensures ordering replacement stock as required based on patient usage and par levels.
  • Functionally uses the hospital information systems.

Requirements

  • Hospital pharmacy and/or IV admixture experience required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Current NJ registration (or eligible on hire).
  • Must register with the NJ Board of Pharmacy during the first 10 days of employment.
  • Must complete the registration with the NJ Board of Pharmacy and become an active registered Pharmacy Technician within 180 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Chemotherapy experience preferred.
  • Pharmacy Technician National Certification (PTCB) - preferred.
  • Completion of basic pharmaceutical calculations.
