The Chemistry Laboratory Technician II performs laboratory analyses, tests, prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests, reads/interprets tests, and releases results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • General science background
  • Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to communicate effectively and accurately
  • Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions.
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • 2- or 4-year degree in science-related field
  • Laboratory skills/experience including setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments
  • Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and chemistry procedures and equipment

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and runs laboratory tests.
  • Read and release test results.
  • Prepare and fill all reagents for the analyzer.
  • Keep track of reagent supplies and maintain inventory on the lots and expiration dates of all reagents used.
  • Operate and troubleshoot the analyzer.
  • Reconcile pending and queue lists daily.
  • Ensure that manifests submissions are managed properly.
  • Calibrate, run, or enter QC (Quality Controls) when necessary, into QA software and ensure QC has passed before running and release patient samples.
  • Run verifications and perform equipment maintenance activities.
  • Comply with all QA policies and protocols.
  • Report any technical/QC problems to their lead tech or supervisor.
  • Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
  • Maintains clean and organized work area.
  • Restocks supplies as needed.
  • May be cross trained to perform other duties, such as performing fewer complex tests.
  • Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
  • Consult with senior peers on non-complex Chemistry tasks to learn through experience.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for asking questions, seeking guidance, and reporting concerns and/or violations of company policy or ethical standards.
