About The Position

The Marion campus of The Ohio State University seeks a Chemistry lecturer to teach in the Summer 2026 semester. The successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the teaching mission of The Ohio State University and experience teaching lecture courses. The Ohio State University at Marion offered its first classes in 1957. The campus prides itself on providing positive interactions among faculty, staff, administration, and students that promote a unique “culture of caring.” The Marion campus sits on 188 acres and shares the campus with Marion Technical College. In addition, 66 acres of campus are leased for agricultural purposes. The two institutions have a strong partnership, and a cost share agreement governs operations and expenses for facilities, public safety, the library, and student activities. Ohio State Marion currently enrolls 900 students who are taught and supported by 37 tenure track or tenured professors, 2 clinical teaching professors, 50 associated faculty, and 19 staff members. The campus focuses on the academic success of students (small campus; average class size of 20; many undergraduate research opportunities; easy access to faculty and staff; staff resources to support academic achievement), but also the personal success of students through 28 student organizations, mental health and wellness services, recreational sports, internship opportunities, and community engagement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in relevant field of study
  • Evidence of expertise in effective teaching at the undergraduate level
  • 1+ year(s) teaching experience at the college level

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience teaching within The Ohio State University, land-grant university, and/or regional campuses
