About The Position

The Chemistry Laboratory Assistant assists the Laboratory Manager with the preparation of chemistry laboratory kits, including apparatus set-up and solutions preparations. The Laboratory Assistant maintains and restocks the laboratory chemicals and equipment stock and maintains/cleans laboratory glassware stock.

Requirements

• Completed the lecture and laboratory coursework of Chemistry 141 and 142 with a letter grade of 'C' or higher.
• Currently enrolled in Organic Chemistry lecture and lab or have already completed the series of courses with a letter grade of 'C' or higher.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory glassware and equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate safe and proper handling of chemicals and laboratory equipment.
• Ability to work well in a group setting and independently without direct supervision.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Laboratory Manager with the preparation of chemistry laboratory kits.
• Set up apparatus and prepare solutions for laboratory use.
• Maintain and restock laboratory chemicals and equipment.
• Clean and maintain laboratory glassware stock.
