Work Shift: 9am-5:30pm Monday - Saturday (5 Days) The Target Pay for this position is $18.46 an hour. PURPOSE OF JOB: The Chem istry Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection , identification verification, processing and preparing of chemistry samples . ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. Pour chemistry specimens into appropriate bar-coded tubes . En sure bar-coded racks are arranged correctly and load ed on to instruments . Accurately label processing tubes when building loads . Scan samples to library . Centrifuge samples . Find missing samples . Print and reconcile queue list . Library all samples . Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc. Complete QNS forms on short samples. Check and resolve queue list daily. Find and pull original TRF forms. Awareness of quality control and calibration . Cross-train and develop kn owledge of multiple specialties within department/lab . Applies job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks . Reads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.  Maintains clean and organized work area . Restocks supplies as needed. Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation. Consult with senior peers on non-complex Chemistry ta sks to learn through experience . Per forms other duties as assigned . Requirements

  • Hi gh school diploma or equivalent, prior lab experience and/or 2, 3 or 4 year degree in Science -related field preferred
  • Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and operating lab instruments preferred but not
  • Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and Chemistry pr ocedures and equipment helpful
  • General science background
  • Attention to detail
  • Organized with ability to multi-ta sk in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work indep endently and as part of a team
  • Communication s kills, both verbal and written
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as appropriate
  • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and pro ficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Extensive standing , phone, and computer use
  • Capable of standing continuously for up to 2 hours
  • Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
  • May be to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in person
  • Ability to communicate verbally on the phone and in person
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Extended hours may be needed
  • Travel may be if acting in a float capacity
