Position Summary: This position is responsible for developing new products, evaluating competitive products, assisting in product problem resolution, and presiding over product scale up and field trials. A person in this position will succeed by obtaining, analyzing, and presenting data efficiently. They are responsible for adding to the company knowledge and driving development forward.

  • Perform all required activities in a manner deemed to be safe and with minimal risk to self and co-workers.
  • Participate in laboratory work activities involving product development, quality control, materials evaluation, and matching competitive products.
  • Respond properly and quickly to inquiries, either directly to the customer, to sales, or to the supervisor, regarding technical problems or matters.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to the Director of Research and Development or other appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities in neat and orderly conditions to permit maximum employee efficiency and productivity.
  • Accurate and timely record-keeping, with recommendations for further
  • BS/BA Degree in chemistry, polymer or material science, or chemical engineering; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in project management, experimental design and other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Industrial experience.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and must be able to pass a Respirator Test.
  • Experience with polymer synthesis, characterization of coatings, and knowledge of surface science is preferred
  • Product development experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in polymer characterization by physical and chemical methods.
  • Knowledge of gel coats, colorants, and thermoset polyesters or vinyl esters.
  • Knowledge of fillers and additives used in the formulation of composite materials.
  • Knowledge of the cured in place pipe process or trenchless technology.
