Based in Piperton, TN, the Chemist-Pigment Dispersions role will be hands-on with formulating, compounding and molding. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of chemistry, be mechanically inclined, creative, curious and passionate about creating and using chemistry and composite fabrication methods to solve real-world technical challenges. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Composites Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science preferred; Exception to this requirement may be made by fulfilling the desired experience and having a degree in the sciences
• 1+ years of experience formulating pigment dispersions and color matching
• 1+ years of experience formulating or compounding resins
• Hands-on laboratory skills
• Relevant experience in the following: Formulating or compounding unsaturated polyester and epoxy vinyl ester resins; Molding or fabricating composites; Color matching and weather testing
• Knowledge of physical testing and mechanical properties
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office and computer systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must have strong organization, project management, problem-solving, and time management skills
• Willing and able to travel 5% annually
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Product development of pigment and thickening formulations for composites – end uses including but not limited to construction, automotive, recreation and infrastructure
• Support the Product Leader-Pigment Dispersions in design of experiments, formula development, preparing samples with hands on laboratory work, maintaining equipment, and authoring technical reports
• Seek out new opportunities for pigment and resin formulations
• Collaborate with customers and colleagues
• Other duties as assigned
