About The Position

Eurofins Environment Testing Southwest - Calscience is searching for a Chemist II in the Metals Department to analyze environmental samples using ICP-OES and ICP-MS instrumentation. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Batching, analyzing, and reporting samples for ICP-OES and ICP-MS analysis. Evaluate data to ensure QC criteria are met. Monitor and manage sample backlog workload to meet client program requirements Upload and peer review data using the laboratory information management system (LIMS) Perform instrument maintenance and repair Prepare standards and reagents for sample analysis Maintain instrument calibrations in accordance with laboratory QA/QC requirements. Evaluate methods and procedures for efficiency and accuracy improvement opportunities Troubleshooting issues with instrumentation, equipment, procedures and methods Perform general housekeeping within the laboratory to maintain an organized and safe working environment Conduct daily duties in an efficient and safe manner, remaining compliant with environmental health and safety programs Perform other laboratory duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience working in a production laboratory analyzing sample by ICP-OES and ICP-MS.
  • Strong knowledge of and understanding of methods typically utilized in a production oriented environmental laboratory.
  • BS or BA in chemistry or related field; 3 years laboratory analytical experience may substitute for a degree
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently following written and verbal instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
