The Chemist I (Applied Chemistry Lab) position is responsible for performing analysis using applied chemistry and spectroscopic methods and instruments. The role involves performing assigned laboratory tasks including setting up and calibrating instruments, preparing samples, acquiring chromatographic data, processing data, and reporting results in a prescribed format. Additionally, the chemist will create and maintain detailed lab record documentation according to GMPs, maintain assigned laboratory instrumentation, develop or optimize methods, document laboratory methods in written work instructions and SOP's, and execute analytical method validation protocols. The position also includes peer review responsibilities, quality assurance tasks, training and mentoring other scientists, maintaining laboratory spaces, and adhering to corporate policies and procedures.

  • Perform assigned laboratory tasks including setting up and calibrating instruments, preparing samples, acquiring chromatographic data, processing data, and reporting results in a prescribed format.
  • Create and maintain detailed lab record documentation according to GMPs.
  • Maintain assigned laboratory instrumentation including routine maintenance, calibration and verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop or optimize methods as required.
  • Document laboratory methods in written work instructions and SOP's.
  • Execute analytical method validation protocols.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in peer review, approving lab notebook pages, checking data entry, sequence checks, and data approvals.
  • Perform assigned quality assurance responsibilities including initiating and processing workflows for training, change control, planned deviations, and investigations.
  • Revise and author work instructions, provide technical support for investigations and approvals, and participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Train and mentor other scientists based on experience.
  • Maintain assigned laboratory spaces in a neat and organized condition.
  • Maintain inventories of parts and supplies needed for assigned work.
  • Adhere to applicable corporate policies and procedures, quality procedures, and work instructions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a related field.
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 and/or cGMP environment.
