About The Position

Chemical technician responsible for applying pesticide and fertilizer to the golf course. Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying and fertilizer equipment. Other tasks and projects as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or the Director of Agronomy.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical skills.
  • Must possess good verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Must be able to pass background check.
  • High School or equivalent education required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to physically reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors).
  • Must be able to work around chemicals, dust, fumes and/or odor hazards.
  • Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens.
  • Must be able to work in a loud environment and in areas near moving mechanical parts.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Word and Excel a plus
  • Mechanic experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
  • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Hand spraying and proper mixing amounts and techniques.
  • Maintains log of applications and files related reports.
  • Responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.
  • Responsible for reading, understanding, and keeping current with material safety data sheets.
