About The Position

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. The US Construction Engineering department is responsible for the design and construction efforts for high-tech, large-scale projects for Micron in the US. Current high-profile projects include the design and construction of two high-volume manufacturing fabs in Boise, ID1 and ID2, and a third fab in Clay, New York. We are seeking an experienced Chemical Systems Engineer to oversee the third-party design of chemical delivery and handling systems for high-tech large-scale construction projects. The Chemical Systems Engineer will manage external design firms, ensuring that chemical systems meet stringent project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role requires deep technical expertise in chemical systems, strong project management skills, and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant systems for semiconductor manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in chemical systems engineering
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables, working knowledge of engineering design tools, including AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Navisworks, as well as construction management tools, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud and Procore.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent project management and communication skills to coordinate with external design firms, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing facilities or other high‑purity, high‑hazard process environments.
  • EIT or PE certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage third-party design firms in developing chemical delivery and handling systems, including storage, distribution, and hazardous waste management.
  • Coordinate with external and internal stakeholders—including contractors, construction managers, vendors, and design teams—to ensure alignment with facility needs and project schedules.
  • Interface with teams responsible for other technical disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, architectural, process water, and wastewater.
  • Verify that all chemical systems and related waste management designs comply with applicable codes, industry standards, and Micron safety requirements.
  • Analyze Tool Utility Matrix (TUM) and Facility Utility Matrix (FUM) capacities and loads; evaluate changes and impacts; identify system deficiencies; and develop engineering solutions.
  • Ensure seamless integration of third-party designs with facility systems using Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools like Revit and Navisworks.
  • Prepare, review, and evaluate technical documents, contracts, and proposals related to chemical systems and facility projects.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, technical specifications, calculations, and 3D models.
  • Use approved AI tools to support analysis, documentation, summarization, and productivity, ensuring AI‑assisted outputs are accurate, appropriate, and compliant with company AI governance, data protection, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Support commissioning and testing, reviewing design performance, validating equipment with vendors, and monitoring project progress to mitigate risks and ensure timely delivery.
